While delivering a pizza to a TV station back in 1999, Fry knocks FOX off the air while showing the season finale of “Single Female Lawyer”. This upsets the aliens of Omicron Persei 8, a planet that is 1000 light years away and is just receiving the broadcast in the year 3000. Meanwhile, it’s Labor Day and the crew decides to go to Monument Beach. Everything seems well, until the Omicronians arrive on Earth and start destroying the monuments. Volunteers are called under the orders of Zapp Brannigan to battle the aliens, but fail in destroying the mother-ship. Lrrr threatens to destroy the Earth unless he sees McNeal. President McNeal is delivered to him, but Lrrr says that is the wrong McNeal and takes out a picture of Jenny McNeal. Luckily, Fry recognizes her from the TV show and the crew has to improvise and act out the series finale.

It turns out, however, that the one they were referring to is the main character of a 20th century TV show, Single Female Lawyer, the final episode of which was disrupted before it was concluded when Fry accidentally spilled beer on a control panel from the station it was broadcast from back in 1999. The Omicronians threaten Earth to broadcast the episode or be destroyed, but because no copy of the episode exists anymore, the Planet Express crew is forced to reenact it.
